Custom sewing and Alterations

I provide quality, budget‑conscious alterations designed to extend the life of your clothing. Whenever possible, I suggest solutions that save you money and preserve your garments. For children’s clothing, I often leave extra fabric in hems or seams to allow room for growth.

I’m a minimalist seamstress by principle. My goal is always to recommend the least invasive alteration that achieves the best fit while maintaining the integrity of your garment. This sometimes means I work in unconventional ways and suggest other ways that you can address fit issues that may not require garment modifications. 

If you’re looking for a complete redesign, couture‑level tailoring, or major silhouette changes, I’m not the right fit — and I’ll happily point you toward someone who specializes in that work.

All genders, body shapes, and sizes are welcome.   My studio is inclusive, affirming, and open to everyone.

• Basic repair under 5 minutes: Free (first item only)
• Basic pant hem (machine): $10
• Euro hem on jeans (original hem): $15
• Dress pant hem (blind hem, machine): $10
• Dress hem (single layer): Starting at $40 (depends on skirt width)
• Install corset back on formal dress: $50 + cost of corset kit

All other alterations are quoted after a fitting. Pricing is based on time and complexity at a shop rate of $30/hr.

Every fall, I sew hockey name bars and donate 50% of proceeds to a local charity. In 2025, I donated $1156 to Rock Out for Jack.

• House league bars: $5
• Competitive jerseys: $7 (more time involved)

I take on a limited number of formal dress alterations due to the time and space they require.

I do not alter wedding dresses. I do not alter bodices or redesign formal dresses.

To ensure an accurate fit:

• A proper fitting foundation (bra) is required for your fitting. Most dresses don’t provide enough structure on their own. 
• Bring the exact shoes you plan to wear. Heel height and platform thickness can significantly change your hemline.
• Please book early — formal dress slots are limited.

• Pre‑wash and dry new garments (when appropriate) before your fitting to avoid post‑alteration shrinkage.
• Bring the shoes you plan to wear with your pants.
• If you choose to mark your own hem, I will follow your marks exactly. In that case, I cannot guarantee the final fit.
• I do not alter dirty garments (including hockey jerseys). Items must be properly cleaned before your appointment. Dirty items will be returned unaltered.

Fittings are by appointment only, held Monday evenings in my Stittsville location. Location details are provided upon booking.
