From time to time, we hold in-person vintage sewing machine maintenance seminars. The goal of these seminars are to give you the skills to maintain your machine yourself. To participate in these seminars, you will require some basic tools and materials and a vintage sewing machine (note- if you do not have a machine, one can be loaned to you , if I have one available).
Note that there will be a small fee to cover facility rental and supplies. There is also an expectation that participants will pay it forward and volunteer in the community.
Note- these are not repair clinics. You will work on your machine yourself with the help of the facilitators. While we can do some basics checks and fixes on your machines, we cannot do any major repairs, including repairs to electrical, motors or major components. If your machine requires electrical or motor repair, it’s recommended that you take it to a qualified technician in advance of the seminar to have these issues addressed.
To express your interest in future vintage maintenance seminars, please fill out thIs form. Please note that by filling out the form, you are not guaranteed a spot in future seminars.
One on one Vintage Sewing Machine Maintenance workshops
If you are not able to make one of the group workshops, I do offer a 2 hour one-on-one session where I will teach you to maintain your machine. Machine must be vintage (pre 1980), in good condition (no broken or missing parts) and have no electrical issues. The one on one session costs $60 (plus travel costs, if I am coming to you). (The group sessions are cheaper and a lot more fun- so I encourage you to attend one of those if possible)
